Vets in Latvia 2004

July 2004

The peaceful country that was Latvia is rocked by the arrival of 10 desperados from Riga Volleyball Club determined to achieve just two things, domination of the volleyball court and inebriation off it.

Our hosts Janis and Arnis (ex-Riga, 1995)

Janis & Arnis were in Coventry for 9 months in 1995 doing an extensive training course at the Cable & Wireless college in Coventry. They came to club night sessions and took part in at least one local tournament for Riga.
They returned to work for Lattelkom in Riga where they still work. Janis lives in Cesis and Arnis in Talsi but during the week in Riga where they play volleyball together. They both hosted the tournament in Talsi and Arnis provided a most enjoyable afternoon's garden banquet in his garden, including masses of home-grown strawberries and beer from Uzhava. They keep in touch with Zano Musins and are always welcoming to (Warwick) Riga members, and would be an essential contact for any future volleyball trips to Latvia.
