The Coventry side started well and took command of the first set with some good team play. They kept in front to take the set 15-5.
Liverpool strengthened this season by two England internationals, showed coolness in coming back from being a set down. Their play improved immediately at the start of the second set and with a 15-6 win continued into the third set to leave Riga. struggling to gain a point in a 15-1 win.
Riga were left with a fight to regain their pride or any chance of a win. Although Liverpool allowed their command to slip, the Coventry side failed to regain their first set workrate and lost the set 15-9.
