| One win, one comeback, one drama, one defeat, and one healthy
dose of league security.
That sums up Riga's 3-1 triumph over Birmingham and 3-0 defeat by Malory at Warwick's St. Nicholas Park Leisure Centre at the weekend. The side's record of five wins and six defeats should now be sufficient to eliminate any lingering relegation worries and sets them on course for a mid-table finish in National League Division One. Riga defeated Birmingham 15-11 7-15 15-9 15-5 but feel that the margin of victory would have been greater but for a first set injury to Graham Duckett who twisted his ankle. Sunday's match against champions-elect Malory was altogether different with the Londoners 15-10 15-10 15-3. "The Birmingham result should make us safe now," said relieved Riga skipper Tom Young. Riga visit Wessex on Saturday. Victory would see the Warwick side move into fifth position. |
