| Riga moved into a mid-table spot after beating National League
Division One Wessex.
The Warwick side travelled to Poole with a skeleton squad reduced by injury, work and exam commitments. Their task was then made worse as centre player Richard Meade aggravated a back problem during the first set. Wessex went 2-0 ahead with back-to-back 15-12 wins before Riga triggered a superb fight back to take the match 15-8 15-6 15-10. "That's the first time we have won in Poole," said delighted Riga captain Tom Young. "To go two sets down and then win comfortably speaks volumes for our progress over the last few weeks. We're enjoying one heck of a season." Riga are resuming their development sessions on Saturday at the St. Nicholas Park Leisure Centre, Warwick (6 pm). Youngsters in the 11-15 age group have an open invitation to receive coaching. Information from the Centre (01926-495353) or Riga organiser Dan Showler (01926-640465). |
