| RIGA Volleyball Club are still searching for their first win
in England's top volleyball league. In two games this week their only reward
was experience. Against Spark, from London, Riga started brightly, but allowed their opponents, through England star Rob Wigget to take control and win the set 15-11. The second set a total disaster for the Coventry side as they made mistake after mistake and allowed Spark to take the set 15-3. Although Riga fought again to get back into the game, they lost the third set 15-6. The second game, against Leeds, again saw a promising start from Riga, especially through Tony Branis and Erie Murnieks, but once again at the last hurdle Riga fell and lost the set 15-13. Again in the second and third sets Riga could not recapture their form with the Leeds attack hitting well and England's Vie Clarkson, making a good account of himself. Leeds took the sets 15-6, 15-10. The Coventry side, who have struggled all pre-season to find training facilities, now need a set training venue and a win to boost confidence. |
