Against Spark, from London, Riga started brightly, but allowed their opponents, through England star Rob Wigget to take control and win the set 15-11. The second set a total disaster for the Coventry side as they made mistake after mistake and allowed Spark to take the set 15-3.
Although Riga fought again to get back into the game, they lost the third set 15-6.
The second game, against Leeds, again saw a promising start from Riga, especially through Tony Branis and Erie Murnieks, but once again at the last hurdle Riga fell and lost the set 15-13. Again in the second and third sets Riga could not recapture their form with the Leeds attack hitting well and England's Vie Clarkson, making a good account of himself. Leeds took the sets 15-6, 15-10.
The Coventry side, who have struggled all pre-season to find training facilities, now need a set training venue and a win to boost confidence.
