Riga experience mixed fortunes

Riga Volleyball Club, based at Nuneaton's Etone Centre, experienced mixed fortunes In their weekend away matches in division two of the National League.

They beat Sefton (Liverpool) last season and on Saturday moved into a 2 - 1 lead after taking the third set 15 - 5.

But Riga eased off and allowed Sefton back into the match and they scored a 3 - 2 win.

On Sunday Riga travelled to Deeside. who had beaten them 3.0 last season. and reversed the scoreline with an impressive win. Riga's 3 - 0 victory puts them in second place with six wins from eight matches.

Said club spokesman Tom Ojasoo: "Sefton are in front of us and if we had beaten them it would have given us a great chance to go .top".

"But we are pleased with the win over Deeside and we still have a good opportunity to close the gap - and win the league." he added.

Riga's next match is at the Etone Centre on Sunday, December 14 when they take on the RAF.
