RIGA LADIES 2 BEAT TELFORD, BUT GO DOWN TO STAFFS
This weekend saw Riga ladies second team travel to Telford for a double header against Telford and Newcastle Staffs. Missing middle hitter Miriam Kay (who has gone off to Borneo with work to do all things medical) the girls were keen to get another win under their belt. Read the full match report by clicking here.
CONGRATULATIONS TO DAN AND JULIE
From everyone at Riga volleyball Club congratulations to Dan and Julie on the birth of their baby girl. Isabel Emma Turnbull was born 5 Feb at 10.05. I'm sure it won't be long til she is on the volleyball court showing Mum and Dad how its done!
CUP RUN FINISHES FOR RIGA TEAMS
This weekend saw the womens first team face Leeds Carnegie and the mens first team face
Newcastle Staffs in the quarter finals of the English Volleyball League cup. Leeds Carnegie showed why they were in the semi-finals last year and that they intend to take the cup this year with a solid performance and taking the victory 3-0. The men took a set from Newcastle Staffs, but the Staffordshire team stepped up to take the game and secure their place in the semi-finals.

CLUB SIGNS NEW VENUE AT CENTRE AT7
Riga has been offered a great opportunity to move its training venue to the newly refurbished Centre at AT7 in Coventry. The large hall (with the same floor as the Beijing Olympics) means that the two mens and womens' teams will be able to train side by side offering great development opportunities for the players.
Therefoer, current training times are as follows:-
Mens 1 and 2 - Wednesdays from 8.20 to 10.20pm.
Womens 1 and 2 - Tuesdays from 8.20 - 10.20pm.
Club night's continue on Thursdays at Bablake from 6.30pm.

JUNIOR TRAINING
Junior training for year 7 and above begins at Centre AT7 from Wednesday 3 February from 7.30 - 8.20pm. Cost is £1 per session. This session is open to all. Whether you've been playing volleyball all your life or are relatively new to the game - Riga would love to hear from you! With four national league teams (a womens and mens in Div 1 and a womens and mens in Div 3), a vets team, a junior team and plenty of social volleyball there's something for everyone!
