The men's B&D side in action for the first time this season found themselves up against last season's runners up in the league. In a similar fashion to the first team men the team started brightly winning the first set relatively easily 25-22. The second set got off to a bad start with Dudley getting off to an 8 point lead. The team managed to claw back the difference but ended up losing the set by the tightest of margins 25-27. The third set was a disaster for Riga with missed passes and bad play all-round with an inspired home side hitting wins down the line. 18-25. The fourth saw Riga rally back with better play and good combinations between Captain Tim Bugg and John Boughton. 25-19. The fifth set saw Riga in the lead for the majority of it until Dudley equalled the scores at 13 all. Riga then failed to side out with the home side winning 15-13. Coach Chris Nason said the team performance was "Rusty and would need improvement" but did add that "John Boughton was one of the few Riga performances of note."
