Match Report by Matt Greaves

With the memory of a narrow defeat by Middlesbrough at home fresh in the memory, the Riga Mens 2nd team took the trip up the M1 with an appetite for revenge.  With the sun shining through the windows in to both teams eyes a patchy game unfolded with Riga’s service receive never quite getting to the standard required.

Some decent hitting and scrambling kept Riga in the game however a solid blocking and hitting performance by Middlesbrough kept them ahead with Riga’s multi-nationals succumbing to a 3-0 defeat. Riga’s man of the match was Tom Spijkers.

Next up was Newcastle Staff Mens 2nds. The Newcastle team was much younger and it was Warwick Riga’s mix of experience and youth that prevailed.

Improved back court performance provided Warwick’s Brazilian setter Juliano Buquiodelima (man of the match) with the quality of ball required to initiate a varied attack. Strong hitting from Luca Molinari on his return to the second team and Rich Digby through the middle saw Warwick overcome a determined performance by Newcastle Staffs three to zero.
