Neville Lewis, friend of Riga

Neville Lewis

The club are very sorry to hear of the sudden death of an old friend of Riga, Neville Lewis.

Neville was Chairman of the West Midlands Volleyball Association and had recently become President of the English Volleyball Association. He was also volleyball's representative on the British Olympic Committee for many years.

Neville refereed many a game for Riga in the late 70s and early 80s and still occasionally wandered over to St Nicholas Park to watch the boys play.

I saw him a couple of years ago, for the first time for years, at an Scotland v England game at the Kelvin Hall in Glasgow and Neville seeing a friendly face in an otherwise partisan crowd came over to say Hello - he was always that sort of person.

You will be sorely missed.
