Riga women looking for another win at home to Cambridge

(08/02/2000)

In their continuing battle for survival in National League Division Two, Riga Ladies' team take on Cambridge at the St. Nicholas Park Leisure Centre, Warwick on Sunday (2pm). Each game is now vital if the side is to maintain its Division Two status, secured barely a year ago. Victory over bottom placed Hawks a fortnight ago has done a lot to restore confidence and ease pressure. Cambridge will be a different kettle of fish. Promoted from Division Three last term with their hosts, they have taken to the higher League likes ducks to water. Their fourth place is on merit and Warwick's Women will have to work hard if victory is to be theirs. "We were the only side to beat Cambridge last year and that was at home," notes coach Martin Warman. "They're good omens but the girls have got to rise to the challenge if we are to repeat last year's result."
