Riga women struggle away at Leeds

Warwick's women's team also recorded a three-one reverse at the hands of Leeds on Saturday in their latest National League Division Two fixture. Shorn of the influence of their captain Lynette Purkis, they failed to live up to recent promise despite winning the first set. "The match hinged on the second set. We had the chances to take it but Leeds were stronger than us when it mattered," commented coach Martin Warman afterwards. "Lynette's absence was a problem but we seemed to overcome it. Then we let ourselves down at the wrong times. We're getting closer to the standard of Division Two and I'm sure we've still got the time and opportunities to survive."
