Prosport NVL Division 2, 25th October 2003
Warwick Riga 3 Solent Ladies 0 (25-13 25-19 25-18)
|
A very convincing performance from the home side saw off a sorry Solent in 3 straight sets. Once again Sally Keates could probably claim player of the match with an excellent all round performance causing countless problems with her back court attacks and accurate line hitting. England Junior Laura Hodgkinson, was part of the starting six, indicative of her growing confidence and 100% commitment on court. The 16 year-old proved effective through the middle and made some excellent pick ups, however her erratic serving prompted a swift substitution in the 2nd set for Sarah Pochin. Libero, Julie Bromell, had a very good game, controlling the back court defence and passing superbly. |

Sally Keates : player of the match |
Riga's blocking gave Solent all kinds of problems and their libero struggled with the extremely hard penetrating serving, particularly from Gulshan and Marinella, who were on form. Solent's two best hitters were frozen out of the game as their receive crumbled. |

New setter, Lisa Purcell, is settling in and finding her confidence and she distributed the ball well throughout the match. Rachel McCarthy came on as off setter in the 3rd set and immediately made her mark with some fantastic retrievals. |

The girls have a week off and then face 3rd Division York in the Cup at home on 9 November 2pm.
