Riga v Ashcombe
Riga 2 Womens travelled to Ashcombe with a bare 6 with a plan to annihilate Ashcombe and Brentwood.
Ashcombe was the first game, and the girls had some trouble with the new ball design, putting themselves down 11-4. Thankfully, Emma dragged them out of a hole with 9 points in a row on serve placing Riga ahead 14-12. After this, Riga took the first set 25-19.
The second set saw Ginny and Nettie get down and dirty diving on the dusty floor. With good team rhthym and hitting by Clare the girls took the second set 25-22.
Not satisfied with a straight forward 3-0 win the girls lost concentration on service reception in the 3rd set and found themselves down 6-1. Riga never recovered from this and lost the third set 21-25.
Mirium pumped everyone up with "slapsies" for the fourth set and showed her actions were louder than her words with awesome hitting through the middle. Throughout the set Sharon was consistent cover and a steady middle blocker (jump Sharon!) allowing Riga to push ahead. The game was finished with yet another 8 points on serve by Emma, Riga storming home 25-20.

Riga v's Brentwood
For the last game of the season the girls were determined to have some fun. However, with a poor warm-up Riga were very slow off the mark and found themselves 12-4 down.
Rather than panic Riga played out of the slump and 7 points on serve by Clare and cruised through to win the set 25-18.
In the second set, Riga improved their passing to allow Ginny and Emma to get some sets out to the hitters. Miriam added to her outstanding middle work by serving 5 serves, one of which was admired for a bit too long!
The girls took the second set 25-16.
The third and final set saw the game level until 15 all when Sharon decided to pull out 5 service winners. Placement hitting by Netty from position four finished the last game of the season by winning the third set 25-17.
