The old Nottingham tournament is no more :-(. In 2010 it was replaced by a separate tournament as part of the VE VolleyFest. Anyone know if this is runing in 2011? |

NEW FOR 2010: SANDWELL - 3 JULY - Well depends on your definition of New. On old regular tournament which those tournament go-ers who are a little longer in the tooth will definitely remember. After a long break, it's back!

Date:Not in 2011 Location: Weymouth www: n/a. Contact Ian Loke. Details: A tournament for NVL ladies teams only held indoors at Weymouth. The tournament is seeded giving division 2 and 3 teams a good opportunity. Riga Ladies 2 entered a team for the first time in 2007. It was a tournament with a LOT of volleyball! The ladies' first match was against Div 1 Wessex! The weekend saw some great competition and a brilliant opportunity to play some very high level volleyball. Very enjoyable. Date: ?? Location: Widmerpool RFC, Nottingham www: Details: Mixed 6s tournament held outdoors. This tournament disappeared for a while, but made it back onto the calendar in 2006. It's a fun well organised tournament with a crazy scoring system! The above tournament is no more. Waiting to see if there is another in Nottingham in 2011 - anyone? Riga contact: Clare Francis |

Date: 2 July Location: The playing fields, Sandwell, Birmingham www: http://www.slt-leisure.co.uk/NewsArticle.aspx?newsId=135 Details: Mens or Mixed (hoping to have womens for 2012). This tournament is a friendly tournament which was massive back in its hey day. After a few years off the scene they are back at a fantastic venue. Date: 25 June Location: The Big Field, Brockham, near Dorking, Surrey www: n/a Details: Adults and Juniors outdoor tournament which is often attended by Riga. Date: 10 July 2010 Location: Musmajas, Wolston Details: Fun day tournament attended by lots of local teams from Coventry, Leicester, Warwick and the surrounding area. 6s outdoor tournament which is a lot of fun. New teams always welcome, contact Chris Nasan for further details. Riga members, if you want to take part in a Riga team, put one together and let Chris know, or contact Chris and he will put together a team for you. Date: 2/3 July Location: Bridlington Beach www: www.bridbeach.co.uk/ Details: 4 aside mixed beach volleyball tournament held on the beach at Bridlington. There's also an accompanying 2s KO competition on the Saturday afternoon. Camping is quite civilised on a local campsite with evening entertainment at the on-site Maki's nightclub! Date: 16/17 July Location: Sandbanks Beach, Poole www: www.wessexvolleyball.com/sandbanks/ Details: A beach tournament with pairs and fours competition for all levels across the weekend. There is also a junior tournament on the same weekend. Riga contact: Clare Francis

Date: 23/24 July Location: Bath Rugby Club www: www.whitefieldvolleyball.co.uk/ Details: Undoubtedly one of the most popular tournaments in the summer calendar and has been going for 34 years this year! This year Riga has entered a men's premier indoor team and a mixed team which will take part in the outdoor mixed competition. There is limited camping available on site so book early. In the evening there's the tournament disco or the many pubs of Bath (as the venue is right in the City Centre – so you can even shop between games!). Date: 31 July /1 Aug Location: Cambridge Rugby Club www: www.cambridgevolleyball.org/ Details: Popular 6s tournament held at Cambridge Rugby Club. For 2010 it's a new venue and although camping remains at the Rugby club the games will be played in the City Centre. There is also a 2 aside KO competition on Sat afternoon which can be entered on the day. Camping is available on site and there is a tournament disco in the club house on the Saturday evening. Date: 13/14 Aug Location: Gloucester www: n/a Details: Another tournament that's been a firm fixture in the diary. This is a men's, women's or mixed 6s tournament. There is a tournament disco and camping is available at the site. Last year was the first at a new location with improved club house and showering facilities – but still not enough to tempt Jayne under canvass so she can vouch that there's a handy Travel Inn opposite the venue (or quite a few miles down the road if Sarah books it!). Date: 27 - 29 August Location: Richmond www: http://www.richmondvolleyball.co.uk/ Details: New to the series for 2008 this 6s tournament is held in Richmond. By all accounts the 2008 and 2009 were great with good facilities and camping on site. This looks like a tournament to watch and one that is sure to grow and be even bigger in 2011!
